The first paragraph of this post from Big Hollywood Blog expresses my attitude exactly:  When ‘Freedom’ And ‘Choice’ Are Neither

The doublespeak coming from Washington these days has Orwell twirling in his grave.  Although he did not coin the term, Orwell is the father of all things, well Orwellian.  Today’s political climate is the closest we’ve come to Orwell’s vision of 1984.

An especially annoying example?  Card check:

However, nowhere in modern life is Orwellian doublespeak louder than in the debate over the “Employee Free Choice Act” (EFCA).

The act is anything but a free choice for employees.  Employees against unionization will be singled out and one by one intimidated into signing.  Names will be taken. That means you Simpson in sector 7G, dohhhh!

The author has some predictions for future Congressional law name-calling.  A few of my favorites:

“The Gun Use and Guarantee Act” restricting gun ownership to BB and paint guns only while expanding the sales outlets of said “guns.”

“Legal Immigration Penalty Act” granting all illegals citizenship while restricting legal immigration for doctors and engineers.

“School Freedom To Learn Act” destroying the voucher system and taxing families that send their kids to private schools at a higher rate.

It’s a great post.  You should read the rest.

Language is the primary weapon in the war of ideas.  The people to whom “freedom” means “doing it my way” are winning.  How can we help save the world from them?  By exposing one stupid lie at a time.  Mockery is good medicine for what ails freedom.
