From Politico, Town halls gone wild
Screaming constituents, protesters dragged out by the cops, congressmen fearful for their safety — welcome to the new town-hall-style meeting, the once-staid forum that is rapidly turning into a house of horrors for members of Congress.
On the eve of the August recess, members are reporting meetings that have gone terribly awry, marked by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior. In at least one case, a congressman has stopped holding town hall events because the situation has spiraled so far out of control.
“I had felt they would be pointless,” Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to temporarily suspend the events in his Long Island district. “There is no point in meeting with my constituents and [to] listen to them and have them listen to you if what is basically an unruly mob prevents you from having an intelligent conversation.”

Acorn Meets Their Waterloo in Commack! They are NOT Happy Campers!
Nearly 100 Tea Party activists gathered at Representative Peter Visclosky’s Merrillville, IN, office to register their NO vote on H.R. 3200. The weather was perfect, cool and sunny, there were American flags and signs everywhere, and many passing motorists honked their support.

The protest was put together by Northwest Indiana Patriots. Members of that organization presented the Representative’s office with 125 letters signed by his constituents expressing their concern with the unprecedented growth of Federal government and it’s rapidly expanding debt, and their feeling that elected representatives are not connected with their constituents. NWIP also presented his office with a letter detailing concerns with the Kennedy healthcare reform bill in its current form, and urging him, and Congress, to thoroughly explore options and alternatives.

Obamacare protest in San Diego:
Dear Readers: It was my pleasure to chat with many patriots who attended one of the local rallies as part of the Nationwide protest against socialized medicine and Cap-and-Tax today. The Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition organized rallies for all the congressional representatives’ offices, as well as those in front of Senators Boxer and Feinstein; this report is derived from my chats with the citizens in front of the Senators’ downtown San Diego offices. For some reason, Boxer’s office was the most popular agitation point.
